On Friday, Greg installed the last of the window units. Using scrap wood, he rigged a couple of bars for Emilie and Daniel’s empty doorways, then hung a quilt and a comforter as stand-in doors.
All our window units are equipped with timers. The plan is that we will run the AC only at night and only for four hours, but we have experienced some glitches. The first night, Daniel forgot to set his timer and enjoyed Alpine coolness until morning. The next day, Emilie was found reading in her room during the day with her unit on, and Anna admitted to turning hers on briefly because “my cat looked hot.” We had a little talk about energy costs, and it is to be hoped that everyone is now clear on the concept.
