There and Back Again in Twenty-Four Hours

The alarm went off at 3:30 this morning, and by 4:30 we were driving away.  While the guys attended their brown belt workout, I spent some time in Starbucks with my laptop, a luxury I have not indulged for weeks.

We spent the rest of the day in north Texas.  Daniel went to the home of his friend Ethan (son of Brian, the gumbo man), where, not surprisingly, he was very well fed.  Greg and I went to the theater to see Dark Knight, inadvertently becoming part of one of those opening weekend crowds that one sees pictures of in the news sometimes.  (The last time I stood in line for a movie was probably for The Return of the Jedi in 1981 or so.)  Quite intense, is Dark Knight, PG-13 rating notwithstanding.  I watched, metaphorically white-knuckled and on the edge of my seat.

In the evening we attended a very special birthday celebration.  We got back to Kingsbury around 3:45, not quite a day after we left.
